At Reconome, building a sustainable future is the cornerstone of our mission. We’re committed to embedding our ethos in every aspect of our operations, with the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline year emissions: Jul 1, 2023 – Jun 30, 2024

Scope 1: n/a
Scope 2: 7040.4 kg CO2 emission
Scope 3:  49,838 kg CO2 emission

Next emissions reporting year: Jul 1, 2024 – Jun 30, 2025
Next report due Sep 30, 2025

Goal: Create a robust, data-driven baseline to understand our priorities and measure the impact of our actions.

Over the past year and continuing into 2025, we’ve been constructing a strong data infrastructure to measure our emissions across all facets of our business. We’re collaborating with cross-functional teams of experts to:

  • Track Comprehensive Emissions: Monitor Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from energy), and Scope 3 emissions (supplier and logistics emissions).
  • Partner with Auditors: Engage third-party organisations to assess emissions throughout our supply chain, including partners involved in refurbishment, recycling, and e-waste disposal.
  • Pinpoint High-Impact Areas: Identify key contributors to our carbon footprint, such as fleet transportation, data centre usage, and disposal processes.

Goal: Convert 100% of our energy consumption to renewable sources by 2027.

  • On-Site Renewable Installations: Invest in solar panels and wind turbines for our facilities, warehouses, and refurbishing centres.
  • Green Energy Procurement: Ensure all our spaces use electricity from renewable sources through partnerships with eco-friendly energy providers.
  • Energy Efficiency Programmes: Implement cutting-edge energy-efficient systems across our operations.

Goal: Slash transportation-related emissions by 50% through electrification and optimisation.

  • Fleet Electrification: Transition to electric or hybrid vehicles for IT asset collection, transport, and delivery by 2030.
  • AI-Powered Route Optimisation: Utilise advanced logistics tools to minimise fuel consumption.
  • Eco-Conscious Partnerships: Collaborate with logistics providers committed to carbon reduction practices.

Goal: Maximise reuse and recycling of IT assets to minimise the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing and disposal.

  • Circular Economy Practices: Invest in cutting-edge technology, including AI, to optimise device outcomes.
  • Enhanced Recycling Efficiency: Refine the partners we use for non-reusable assets and their recycling processes to minimise energy consumption and emissions.
  • Stringent Partnerships: Collaborate exclusively with certified e-waste recyclers who share our eco-friendly ethos and carbon-neutral aspirations.

Goal: Reduce physical operational needs and travel through digitalisation.

  • Flexible Work Policies: Encourage remote and hybrid work environments to reduce commuting-related emissions.
  • Virtual Engagement: Conduct client meetings and asset inspections virtually where possible.
  • Cloud Migration: Transition to cloud-based infrastructure powered by renewable energy.

Goal: Minimise waste generation and ensure proper material disposal across all company processes.

  • Zero-Waste Initiatives: Implement comprehensive policies in office and refurbishing operations.
  • Eco-Friendly Packaging: Use biodegradable or recyclable materials for IT asset packaging and shipping.
  • Resource Conservation: Optimise water usage in refurbishing processes and maximise recycling efficiency for all materials.

Goal: Offset any remaining emissions to achieve net neutrality by 2030.

  • Carbon Offset Projects: Invest in initiatives such as reforestation, renewable energy, or carbon capture technologies.
  • Green Certifications: Pursue carbon-neutral certifications through reputable organisations.
  • Industry Collaboration: Partner with organisations focused on sustainable IT solutions to drive sector-wide change.

Goal: Foster a culture of sustainability across the organisation.

  • Green Training Programmes: Educate our team on sustainable practices and their role in our mission.
  • Sustainability Incentives: Reward eco-friendly behaviours and low-carbon lifestyles.
  • Leadership by Example: Encourage our leaders to actively champion sustainability initiatives.

Goal: Maintain transparency and engage stakeholders in our carbon reduction journey.

  • Annual Sustainability Reports: Publish detailed progress reports on our net neutrality goals.
  • Client Collaboration: Work with clients to create take-back programmes and promote refurbished products.
  • Global Standards Alignment: Adhere to international sustainability standards and regulatory requirements.

Goal: Foster a culture of innovation to continuously reduce carbon emissions and adopt cutting-edge sustainable practices.

  • Research and Development: Invest in exploring new technologies for asset recovery, refurbishment, and recycling.
  • Emerging Tech Adoption: Leverage AI, machine learning, and blockchain to optimise our operations and minimise waste.
  • Green Tech Partnerships: Collaborate with innovative startups focused on sustainable IT solutions.

Achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 is at the heart of our mission at Reconome. We’re committed to investing substantial resources to ensure this commitment is woven into every aspect of our business. Together, we’re not just refurbishing technology – we’re reimagining a sustainable future for the IT industry and beyond.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
